Both the University of Washington and Pacific Lutheran University took an extraordinary step by saying they are willing to change course because the public clearly wants to have a voice. Our messages, our outreach, and our logic combined with passion made that happen. But it also takes courage by leadership.
We asked for time for the public to understand the impacts and explore alternatives. Now that’s happening.
However, we still don’t know any of the details. PLU and UW are still negotiating. We must hold them accountable to create a process where the criteria are clear and the pathway is unobstructed.
While a fundraising campaign takes shape, any messages now should support the new path and expect there won’t be any new obstacles. In particular, the administration at the University of Washington has gone the extra mile to make this possible.
