Friends of 88.5 FM Update: August 18

Dear Friends,

This week the FCC approved the “Assignment of License” to Friends of 88.5. It is the last major hurdle before becoming a fully independent station. The transaction will be finalized on August 31. Tune in that day to hear our new, community-owned station for the first time!

Thank you for your incredible commitment to ensuring a bright future for 88.5 FM. We did it! Together, we bought a radio station and will continue the tradition of news, jazz and blues in our community. We also look forward to creating new and exciting shows on KNKX that will connect with you in meaningful ways.

This will be our last Thursday update for the successful, and completed, Save KPLU campaign.

Join us in the lobby of the Washington Center in downtown Olympia on Friday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. All ages are welcome! Meet KPLU staff, air hosts and fellow 88.5 fans. Enjoy complimentary food and drink. Win fun prizes, score free swag and listen to live music from the David Deacon-Joyner Trio. More details are on the KPLU Calendar page. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to your support, 88.5 is in a sound financial position to assume ownership of the station. Your continued support of Friends of 88.5 ensures that your new radio station will keep bringing you the jazz, blues and news that you count on every day and is critical in this first year of independence.

Please become one of the founding members of our shared station with your annual gift today. You can become a sustaining member of Friends of 88.5 here.

Thank you!
